Boise St dominated the WAC from 2002-2004 with a perfect24-0 record in league play and outscored their foes by ridiculous margins. In 2002 they outgained WAC foes by 208.4 ypg, outscoring them by 37.4 ppg. In 2003, despite having the fewest amount of returning starters (10) in the league and facing both Fresno and Hawaii on the road, they went 8-0 outgaining WAC foes by 176.4 ypg, outscoring them by 29 ppg. In 2004, they had just 10 starters back and had to replace their outstanding QB but outgained WAC foes by 191.3 ypg and outscored them by 25,6 ppg. The Broncos climbed to their highest AP ranking ever at#12 and they came into last season 36-3 over the previous 3 years. Last year they had the fewest amount of lettermen lost in the league (13) so big things were expected and for the first time in history Boise was ranked in the preseaspn coaches' poll at #18. Not bad for aschoolthatwasaJUCO until 1968 and lastyear was just their 10th year of IA ball. Boise St had a couple of incredible streaks end last year as they had won 31 straight WAC games until they were knocked off by Fresno (27-7) and saw their home win streak end at 31 straight in their loss to BC in the bowl game. Boise dropped their first two games, both on the road vs BCS schools (UGA and Oreg St) and 3 of their 4 losses came to ranked teams. Despite the loss to Fresno, they still won a share of the WAC Title at 7-1 and have an amazing record of 37-3 in WAC play. Boise was the first team to win 4 straight WAC Titles since BYU (1989-1993). Boise outgained league foes by +70.1 which was #3 (behind Hawaii and Fresno). The last time they were -8 in turnovers for a season, they rebounded with a 12-1 (2002) season and they were -8 in turnovers last year. From 2002 to 2004 the Broncos averaged 45.9 ppg on offense. Last year, with 7 starters back including their QB, they only avg'd 36.1 ppg. This season, with 9 starters back, they should once again top 40 ppg. The Broncos always have a tough D and this year return 9 starters (most since 1999) and should be one of the WAC's top D's. The most starters Boise has returned since joining the WAC has been 14 but this year they return 18. Boise has the talent and the schedule to run the table in the WAC and grab their fifth straight title as they get the toughest two WAC foes (Fresno and Hawaii) at home.
