GT has now been to a school record 9 straight bowl games and under Galley has had exactly 7 wins in each of the last 4 years. In Galley's first two years the team was hit hard by injuries and defections. In 2003 Galley did a fine job guiding them to a 7-6 record. In 2004 GT was -13 in turnovers but still managed a 7-5 record including Galley's 2nd bowl win, a 51-14 rout over Syracuse. They even had a couple of wins over ranked teams on the road (#20 Clemson, #23 Maryland). Galley came into last season just 12-12 in ACC play and 21 -17 overall here but Tech had some great moments. In the opener they ended Auburn's 15 game win streak, 23-14 on the road. Later they knocked off #3 Miami Fl, 14-10, also on the road. Galley had been given a 5 year contract extension through 2010 the week prior to that game. They did have some narrow losses like vs NCSt when a pass bounced off Calvin Johnson's hands in the EZ and was int'd in the final seconds. They had 327-266 yd and 20-13 FD edges and a FD at the UGA11 but were int'd at the 1 with 1:11 left, their 5th straight loss to their rival. They also had a couple of bad moments as with a less than 100% healthy Reggie Ball, were thrashed by VT 51 -7, but DC Tenuta's defense only allowed 320 yards (blk'd FG, TD, 2 IR TD's). GT just simply failed to show up for a bowl game they did not want to play in and were beaten by Utah's backup QB allowing 550 yards in a 38-10 rout. GT did outgain ACC conf teams by 56.2 ypg (3rd best) but also benefited from +10 in turnovers. GT took on the 9th toughest schedule in the country . The offense has 9 starters back including their QB and super WR and will easily improve upon 'OS's paltry 18.5 ppg.
