Oklahoma Sooners Football Tickets

In 2000 Oklahoma did not have a single starter miss a single game due to injury and benefitted from +7 in turnovers. They stunned the nation winning the National Title despite not being ranked in the preseason Top 20. In 2001 and 2002, thanks to regular season-ending losses to Okla St, the Sooners did not get to the Big 12 Title game. In 2003 and 2004 the Sooners played not only in the Big 12 Title game but in the National Title game and unfortunately lost 3 of the 4. The Sooners probably had their most talented and experienced team yet under Stoops in 2004. They went 12-0 getting to the National Title game vs USC but Bob Stoops, who earned the nickname "Big Game Bob", not only came up short but was embarrassed 55-19 for the school's worst loss since 1997. They blew out most of their foes during the year outgaining Big 12 opponents by 148.4 ypg and outscoring them by 17.5 ppg. Last year they had just 9 returning starters and topped my NFL Draft Day Party Hangover List with 41 points (see pg 308) and also were #12 in my experience ratings in the Big 12. RB Peterson was banged up early and Stoops, having never lost a non-conf home game, amazingly had a streak of 19 straight home wins snapped in a 17-10 loss to TCU. The Sooners had just 225 total yards. They led Tulsa just 17-15 late in the game before getting a long TD run and then a defensive TD on the final play. Turnovers did them in vs UCLA and they opened at 1 -2 for the first time since 1997. Stoops had owned Texas but they were plastered 45-12 with Peterson getting just 3 rushes. They only led Kansas 10-3 when they got an int at the goal line which allowed them to go on for a 19-3 win. They needed 2 OT's to get past Baylor at home, 37-30, and stunningly the players rushed the field after their home win over the Bears. Two bad calls on the final drive allowed Tech to score the winning TD on the last play, 23-21. They finished on a high note knocking off #6 Oregon in the Holiday Bowl. Their offense had amazing balance in '05 with 2,130 rush and 2,131 pass. Even with a young 0-line they will easily top 2005's 26.9 ppg which was their lowest since 1998. The D allowed an un-Sooner-like 23.1 ppg but with 9 starters back.
