Notes: The first "official" NHL All-Star game was played in 1947 at Maple Leaf Gardens, featuring the Stanley Cup champion Maple Leafs against a team of All-Stars. That format remained in place for most of the next 20 years
From 1969 to 1974, the All-Star game matched the East Division against the West Division, then the Wales Conference against the Campbell Conference from 1975 to 1993. In 1999 the format switched to North American players vs. World Players.
