The Steelers beat AFC North champion Cincinnati two out of three times a season ago and have to be the favorites to take back the division crown. But the Steelers' free-agent losses have reduced their margin for error, and they are banking on players such as DE Brett Keisel and WR Cedrick Wilson to increase their production. 2006 Team Draft Notes: The Steelers lost Antwaan Randle El in free agency and was in need of another playmaking wide receiver. Enter Ohio State's Santonio Holmes. Regarded as one of the top two wideouts in the draft, Holmes was the first one taken off the board. And the team didn't even want to wait until the 32nd pick of the first round to get him. The Steelers traded with the Giants and got Holmes at No. 25. Overall, the champs have done a good job of adding depth. Interestingly, they added Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs in the fifth round, giving them two MAC quarterbacks -- with Ben Roethlisberger hailing from Miami (Ohio).
He's solid, a very good runner. He's excellent at coming out of the backfield to catch the football. He'll probably get another chance to play a lot along with Willie Parker now that [Jerome] Bettis has retired. "I like their combination of power and speed in the backfield. Staley was brought in a couple of years ago from Philadelphia to ultimately J replace Bettis. Now is his time. There aren't many players in the league faster than Parker. ...
"Remember, they traded for Staley a couple of years ago and he had a fast start [707 rushing yards in the first seven games] before getting hurt. He was their starter going into training camp last year. They will give him another chance to play a lot
