San Francisco 49ers add a new member to thier offense to select Tight End Vernon Davis out of Maryland.( Davis is an elite athlete with the explosiveness, playing speed and hands to consistently make big plays as a receiver. )

2006 Team Draft Notes:
NFL Free Agency They pick up 2 wide Recievers Antonio Bryant from Cleveland, and Bryan Gilmore from Miami.
Then building up their defense with the Round 2, choosing N.C. State outside linebacker Manny Lawson. Davis is possibly the best pass-catching playmaker in the draft and has an extraordinary combination of size, speed and power. Lawson teamed with Mario Williams (Drafted by Texans in First Round.) in college to terrorize opposing quarterbacks and has great talent as a pass rusher.
The fourth round brought an interesting selection when the 49ers picked Penn State Lions quarterback Michael Robinson. Robinson will likely join third-rounder Brandon Williams as a Wide receiver.
Veteran Bryant Young, who very successfully made the transition from tackle to left end in the Miners' new 3-4 scheme, remains the anchor of the line. Young got off to a great start last season with eight sacks by the end of October, and he fortified his role as the ultimate team leader when he returned to finish the season after tearing a medial collateral ligament that forced him to miss three games.
