2006 Team Draft Notes: The Oakland Raiders used their first pick in the 2006 NFL Draft to select versatile Texas safety Michael Huff with the seventh pick overall. Huff is highly skilled and can play either cornerback or safety, where he's probably best suited at. Huff should help shore up an Oakland defense that was ranked 27th in the league last season. In the second round, at No. 38, the Raiders added UTEP linebacker Thomas Howard. Oakland then brought in USC safety Darnell Bing in Round 4.

They paid a premium to get LaMont Jordan a year ago and he did pretty well for them through the first half of the season, and then the whole program blew up. Jordan's going to have to keep it together for them this year until they get their other issues fixed. They will be a little bit more ball-control, but that's really not who they are. They want to throw the ball down the field. I think the key is how they use Jordan. Will they be a little bit conservative and a little bit patient in the early part of the year until they get all the people working together? Or will they just come out and play playground football and just try to get the ball to Moss and Porter and maybe get the ball to Jordan 16 times a game?"
