The Dick Vermeil Era is over, but Herman Edwards kept plenty of continuity and has the talented veteran leadership to make a playoff push behind rising star Larry Johnson. Improvements must be made rapidly on defense, however, for an aging club with its window of opportunity closing to be a real factor. Herman Ewards Help the NY Jets be a contender in the 2004 play offs. He definetly has the skill to coach a team like The Chiefs can't wait to see the 2006 Chiefs in action this season.

2006 Team Draft Notes: The Kansas City Chiefs continued their rebuilding on defense by adding an impact pass rusher with the No. 20 pick, selecting Penn State defensive end Tamba Hali. Hali should team with Chiefs end Jared Allen to give the Chiefs pass rush a boost -- which helps the entire defense. The trend continued with the drafting of Purdue safety Bernard Pollard in the second round. In the third, the Chiefs made a splash by drafting Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle.

Larry Johnson had a club-record 10 100-yard games in 2005, and his streak of nine in a row to end the season is the third longest in NFL history.

He just took over and ran over people last year after Priest Holmes got hurt. When he came out of Penn State, he had a reputation for being just a north-south guy. But he showed more than that and some good speed as well. I like the way they got him involved in the passing game, jf but he still needs quite a bit of work in that part of his game. I don't know if he has completely put the maturity issue to rest, but I think part of the f problem was that he and Dick Vermeil never really put some of their issues behind them. Herm Edwards starts fresh and he'll probably be spending more of his time with the defense than with the offense. Herm, I think, won the kid over when he named him the starter without going through a training-camp drama.
